SKETCH SLAP is a rolling night of sketches about everything from Drama and Drag. It is a collaborative event brought to you by SoreSlap, creators of ‘More Blacks, More Dogs, More Irish’, Alphabetti 2022.

SoreSlap has been working with other artists to develop a platform for all in the North East, especially for those marginalised in the Arts Industry and a comedy sketch show has been the best place to start.

 

SKETCH SLAP will allow new and experienced writers to submit their work, ask for any feedback and to have these scripts performed. Performance artists should provide a short self-tape and application form, advertised on our social medias and SoreSlap pairs them up with other performers if successful in the process. In teams, they have a week to create a weird and wonderful show, with directorial support and rehearsal space available should they need it.

Sketches should last between 1 and 8 minutes and should feature no more than 3 characters.

 

Our cabaret sketch night celebrates comedy, queerness, neurodiversity, disability, ethnic and racial diversity.

We will provide access notices for our venue, as well as information presented in multiple forms and sketches will be empowering (as well as side splittingly funny).

You can expect weird, wonderful, wigs, bees, barbies and even be taken aboard a pirate ship! All with a few cool poems thrown in!

Each event is completely unique as performances are always a work in progress.

 

Really, anything can happen at SKETCH SLAP, with the guarantee of being the most relaxed it will continue to be the most entertaining platform for development out there. Championing its artist’s and its audience. It will be brilliant crack!
