Let’s Create Not Apply
6th – 30th August 2024
Deadline for applications: 12 noon on Monday 10th June 2024.
Artist call out for our Creative Carnival!
Our departing Artistic Director and founder (Ali Pritchard) final season at Alphabetti is going to be titled Joyful Punk, and to launch the season we are inviting you wonderful artists to join us open our season and be part of our Creative Carnival - Let’s Create, Not Apply! We understand the frustrations of endless applications, which is why we've simplified the process to make it as accessible as possible. So, join us and be part of Let’s Create, Not Apply!
Why Joyful Punk? Punk has evolved into a beacon for positive social and cultural transformation. It now symbolizes profound self-expression, boundless creativity, and a courageous defiance of societal norms. Punk has emerged as a powerful platform for social activism, embodying the belief that art holds the potential to reshape the world. Despite our weariness and disillusionment with the current state of affairs, we refuse to merely lament. Instead, let's defiantly raise two fingers with a grin and embark on a mission to enact positive change – fuelled by joy, laughter, art, and community. This is our rallying cry.
What can we offer:
- Net box office split of 70/30 (in artist favour).
- Technical support in shape of 3 hour tech and potentially an operator for the event (subject to availability).
- Free rehearsal space (subject to availability).
- Marketing support: Inclusion on social media, website, mailing list and in print.
- Full box office.
- Artist discount at the bar / café.
We want to say yes as much as we can, so we are trying to be as transparent as possible. We understand and truly appreciate that this application takes some of your valuable time. We will be assessing each application in the following ways (we know some of these are subjective but all art is!):
1. Do we find it exciting?
2. Do we think it’s feasible?
3. Do we think it’s of quality?
4. Do we think it has an audience?
5. Will it fit into Alphabetti (logistically, technically ect)?
6. Does it compliment the rest of the festival?
What are we hoping to see – experimentation, collaboration, development, excellence!
