A musical playground for Newcastle’s sonic frontier

An experimental night for the North-East’s avant-garde music community. Expect soundscapes, unusual instruments and picnic food (plus some very special birthday celebrations). Hypnic Picnic provides an open and inclusive space for everyone interested in the sonic arts, and this evening will feature special guests Tim Shaw and Suns of the Magnet. Tim is an artist and researcher whose practice spans environmental sound art, media archaeology and installation making.

Suns of the Magnet duo, Joseph Sallis and Brett Cherry, research the cathartic properties of dark frequency using unpredictable and precarious instruments.

Doors to the theatre will be open throughout the event and guests are encouraged to come and go as they please. Please email Nick at hypnicpicnic1@gmail.com to register as a participating artist or if you would like more information about the event.
