ClassicsFest 2025, 15th – 17th May: Why Cicero Matters

Can you make a persuasive argument to win £300?

The Lit & Phil and Alphabetti Theatre invite writers to submit new oratorical speeches inspired by the rhetoric style of the Roman orator Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC). You don’t need to know anything about Cicero to submit an entry.

Please see https://www.litandphil.org.uk and then…get writing!

On Saturday 17th May, at Alphabetti Theatre, the winning entries will be chosen by the audience, following a performance of the 8 shortlisted entries.

Following a successful pilot festival in 2024, ClassicsFest returns to explore performance and politics using Cicero as a springboard for an exciting programme of discussions and performances.
